Yeah April fools day has much darker history and connotations than most people realize.
Wikipedia says only some historians believe that and that there are issues with that theory. Also the theory only applies to France so I’m not sure how it’s colonial

Yeah, it’s bad. It’s not even the worst thing they’ve done to pagans though, there’s a reason why the pentagram ⛤ is associated with evil in this day an age. Thankfully those hateful messages the church are starting to lose their potency as people these days are beginning to treat them as edgy and cool, instead of blasphemous and scary.
