Fox News' corporate parent paid nearly the same amount to Dominion Voting Systems for a defamation lawsuit related to 2020 presidential election coverage.
You wonder? Fox is owned by Rupert Murdoch, one of the richest men on earth, who literally owns every other newspaper in australia, and a good chunk of the british press as well.
sure, but he’ll liquidate Fox News to get rid of the suits if it comes down to it, and just drop another ultra right wing nazi propaganda media in its place the next day.
Agreed, I also like this strategy as it keeps it out the federal courts. Trump wants small government with corporations taking over it’s roles. Fine then we can tank and destroy those companies ( or at least try too)
Yeah but I doubt Dominion said we will drop the suit if you have the anchor apologize and redact the comments.
Dominion was likely hurt business wise as they went from making the voting systems for the largest economy on earth to being believed to be a part of a fraud scheme they didnt participate in, which likely loses them future profits
Retract his statements and redact everywhere they put it in text I imagine.
He would need to apologize for defaming someone. It’s part of the terms made by his lawyers for them to drop the suit without it going anywhere further from what the article said.
Read the article if it wasn’t clear to you whom I was talking about. It should be very clear. I’m sorry I used a term meaning to remove or edit text from a previously created document which is standardly done for legal purposes.
I didn’t read the article. Context matters, just using pronouns without context or knowing others share yours will cause miscommunications. As will misusing terms.
The onus is on you to read the article if you are commenting about it. It’s like showing up to a book club and asking who, when someone said “I can’t believe he stole the car!”
Fox News spent a very large sum of money a long time ago to be classified as entertainment. I doubt they will need to spend anything now to get away with it.
They would just form a new corporation. Transfer the assets to the new entity and then bankrupt News Corp. just like the Sacklers. Or how ever Purdue Pharma’s CEO’s spell their name.
If he wins I wonder how many of these settlements can Fox News keep paying?

Let’s hope we find out.
Fox will just redact it and make him make the apology. It won’t be sincere, but I assume it gives credence to the case as well if they refuse.
They didn’t apologize to Dominion. They just paid them to go away.

Retract.? And I don’t see why he would need to apologize.

Redactions are not how news media works. Just admit to using the wrong word.
And just so we’re clear, you’re saying this article claims Newsom will have to apologize… For being defamed?

Pretty obvious who he refers to unless you’re intentionally trying to be cryptic
“I didn’t read the article.”
Okay then read it or don’t participate in conversations that you’re walking blind into? What the fuck lol

That doesn’t preclude them from defamation lawsuits.
Well aware. My point was how hard do you think they are gonna have to fight to dodge this in today’s political climate?
Only one way to find out.
