In the days of player empowerment and constant moving around teams, it feels like there are more players than ever that are guarantees for the Hall… but possibly no teams that want to hang their number in the rafters. Who do you reckon falls into this category?

Surprised no one has said it but Kyrie. Maybe the Cavs but definitely not any of the other teams.

He hit the biggest shot in Cavs history 100% he should be retired there.

If anything I wonder if Chris Paul would get retired anywhere. At most maybe the clippers? Or the Hornets

OKC and the Rockets have some interesting retirings in their future. Both gotta make a Harden and Westbrook decision

    Lamarcus Aldridge.

And yes he’s very likely to make the HOF with his stats, credentials.

Yeah, people who say he won’t make it have no clue on how players make it. In a star driven league, to make 7 All-Star games and a few All-NBA teams is definitely enough.

Career with Spurs was too short and its potential got shut down when Kawhi got injured and left

I think the Blazers might do it if they do Roy and Aldridge together. Current GM has been there since they were drafted so it might be something they look into in the late 2020s.

Otherwise, the way he exited Portland left a sour taste.

A lot of potential HOFers won’t get their jersey retired when you realize there’s way more to making it to the HOF outside of being a team lead and winning a ring.

I don’t see Horford getting his jersey retired here in Boston, but he’ll be in the Hall of Fame for his college career alone. Then you add on his longevity and a possible ring with Boston (hopefully this year) and it’s hard not to see him get in on one of the ballots.

Kevin Durant? With how he left the Thunder and Warriors, then not accomplishing anything on the Nets or Suns (yet), I think he is the best player that could fall into this category. Him or Harden.

    No.

And we can stop pretending like every player is switching teams every year?

I know LeBron was the first player to ever switch teams, but he’s going to get his jersey retired by THREE teams.

Im thinking Dwight Howard. Clearly HoF worthy, but the magic don’t retire jersey numbers unless the player leads them to a ring, and he didn’t contribute enough to his other teams to be in consideration.
