Consumer sentiment is pushing small firms to protest recent ICE raids, even as many corporate leaders stay quiet.
Despite the wave of small-business activism, many corporate CEOs have remained largely silent. A letter from the Minnesota business community signed by more than 60 CEOs — including leaders from 3M, Best Buy, General Mills, and Target — referenced statewide disruption and cooperation with officials but did not mention ICE or the civilians killed in recent operations. Diane Dye, the CEO of People Risk Consulting, a business consulting firm, admits that while mixing politics with business can get risky, consumer sentiment is leading small firms in that direction. A survey released from Emerson College earlier this month shows that 57 percent of respondents find ICE’s presence to be more harmful than helpful.Support small business. Avoid the corporations.
