The phrases “This shit is dope!” and “This dope is shit!” have exact opposite meanings.

    And “this dope is the shit” means “this shit is dope.”

    However, “this shit is the dope” does not mean “this dope is shit.”

    Not quite exact opposite.

    In the first sentence, ‘shit’ could be damn near anything.

    In the second sentence, ‘dope’ is going to be cocaine or heroin or something close to that.

    So they’re not exact opposites, as the potential scope of the subject of the first sentence is much more broad than the second.
