Six hand soaps distributed across 15 states have been recalled over possible bacterial contamination. See the brands, lot codes and affected products.
Imagine washing your hands thinking you’re all clean when in fact your hands just rubbed some nasty shit all over them.
Stop using antibacterial soap. Just using soap washes the bacteria off your skin and down the sink. We don’t need to try to kill them and encourage resistant strains.
I think the US has mostly phased out antibacterial soap. The FDA rescinded its authorization of triclosan and a bunch of other similar antibacterial ingredients in 2016 and prohibited the marketing of antibacterial soaps and body washes with those ingredients as antiseptic or antibacterial.
This particular contamination of these 6 recalled products are hand soaps that aren’t antibacterial.
No, it’s still widely available. I have to have this argument with my wife on a regular basis.
Huh, interesting. What brands are still marketing themselves as antibacterial soap, and what are their active ingredients?
Pretty much every hand soap brand has antibacterial options. Softsoap, Dial, Suave, Dove, etc.
Benzalkoniun Chloride seems to be the anti-bacterial agent used now.
I only use it for my menstrual cup
Can’t you just boil it? That’s safer than antibiotics
Not every time I change it
Mash them, put them in a stew.
Just using soap washes the bacteria off your skin and down the sink.
Soap is a detergent that breaks up bacterial cell walls and kills them. This recall makes no sense, bacteria can’t live in detergent.
Please learn how soap works before telling people how soap works
I guess America is truly great now that you need to check for recalls before washing your hands with hand soap you bought at a grocery store lest you get a brain infection
The other recalled soaps are potentially contaminated with several types of Pseudomonas and Serratia bacteria, which are known to be resistant to antibiotics and can cause complications including blood infections, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, eye infections, brain infections, bone infections and heart infections.
All the magats don’t seem to mind the constant biological warfare since their child rapist king was a cunt to immigrants again
Fucking magats, how do they work?
They are the largest group receiving welfare benefits, and maga states are overwhelmingly welfare states while many of the other states are donor states, giving far more than they take in taxes…so magats don’t work.
Mostly they are welfare queens.
No, like actual welfare queens, not the racist dog whistle kind that are largely imaginary.
They don’t.
Oh no don’t worry, it’s worse than that: you have to check the soap dispenser at the grocery bathroom to make sure it wasn’t recalled.
I really thought they’d be tired of winning by now
Hello America! This week, [spins wheel] SOAP is contaminated with [spins wheel] DEADLY BACTERIA!
This is a shameless rip off of that tweet by this person on that other site which I think of every time something like this drops.

Last week was tofu and ink. Feel so frazzled, but really it’s just project 2025 again.
So, wait.
In Donald’s America… even soap isn’t trustworthy anymore?
Is there a better article than this? The list of recalled soaps feels incomplete and I’m not sure whether that was a formatting decision or a “let’s pump this fda press release through an llm” decision.
And now on this years of the Bingo Card of Recalls! I’m tired.
Intercon Chemical Co. CEOHmm.
Destroys 99% of bacteria … but delivers 1%!
And that 1% is a real doozy.
If you get 1% of bacteria you only get 1% of the disease.
The fucking soap is contaminated now? WTF bro
anti biotic resistant bacteria I understand as (god given power of) evolution. Soap resistant bacteria??? That’s definitely “no longer chosen people” stuff right there.
I never understood the whole “bacteria can’t develop resistance to soap” argument. All multi-cellular life that currently exists and that can handle soap came from single-celled life that at some point developed the ability to survive contact with soap. And while soap might have been an extreme pressure, even extreme pressures can lead to adaptations. Like there are trees that not only are fine with forest fires but even depend on them to thrive, so even fire isn’t too big of a pressure for life to adapt to.
We are a species that consumes alcohol for fun. Hell, we consume hot peppers, a fruit specifically evolved to discourage mammals from eating it by causing extreme discomfort, also for fun. Life, ah, finds a way.
No, detergent has the same effects on your cells as it does bacterial cells. The main way soap works is by dissolving the lipid bilayer of your epidermal cells and allowing them to be washed away, along with anything stuck to them, like dirt. In order to survive in soap, the bacteria would need to survive in basic environments and survive contact with (primarily) sodium stearate. I don’t know precisely how that develops, but it isn’t like “magically all multicellular life is immune to the effects of sodium stearate on the lipid bilayer”
Well. Back to ethanol.
A stable genius once suggested (in a stable and genius-like manner) to inject bleach…
So, and hear me out here, instead of using soap to wash the outside why don’t you guys just inject bleach to wash from the inside out?
Genius move, or what? {taps head}And if the bleach does does not work, you can always shine a very, very bright light up your bum to disinfect things. People are sayin’, lots of people, very good people, the bEST people.
Ironic
Superbug!
