I couldn’t disagree more with this sentiment. I hate this doomer attitude. This sounds cliché but hope is really so powerful, and I truly believe they’re trying to take that away from us.
That said, I’m not stupid, I see the world and I know the potential for a lot of bad is on our horizon. And some, like climate change, is locked in. But the rest isn’t.
That doesn’t mean world war, or the collapse of society, and I’ll keep pushing back against that as long as I can. There’s a lot of bad but there’s still a lot of good.
This attitude feels like psyop shit to take our hope from us. Fuck that. I’m still dreaming of a good future, in whatever limited capacity that is. It’s never black and white, 100% one way. There’s still joy to be found and had and held, alongside the existing pain and fear.
I don’t know if it’s s psyop but your comment was so necessary. I’ve forgotten how many times I’ve thought what you’ve put into words. Keep up the fight.
Emphasis on psyop. If you are still in a democracy, even if it’s flawed, even if they are trying to cheat: Remember Orban. Remember Hungary. They did it! Your country can too. They want you without hope. Don’t lose it!
I feel the same way. Lemmy is a powerlessness echo chamber a lot of the time. Good on ya for pushing back.
thank you. keep fighting y’all. the community still needs you.
Thanks for this comment. I needed it.
Ishould buy a death whistle.
I’ve found this thought oddly comforting for the past few years. Taking it as a reminder to enjoy the moment and have a little fun while I still can.
You won’t be wearing a skull ring by any chance, would you?
Edit: fixed typo
Yes but not on a finger or toe.
I have also come to this conclusion lol
Oddly liberating
The cars on fire, and there’s no driver at the wheel.
And the sewers are all muddied with a thousand lonely suicides.
And a dark wind blows.
The government is corrupt,
and we’re all on so many drugs with the radio on and the curtains drawn.
We’re trapped in the belly of this horrible machine,
and the machine is bleeding to death.
The sun has fallen down, and the billboards are all leering.
And the flags are all dead, at the top of their poles. This is the second time I’ve felt it prudent to link to this song today… seems the spinning 'round the edge of The Abyss™ is especially evident today.
