Younger generations tend to get this kind of thing wrong, I’ve noticed. Sometimes cultural references are wildly wrong.
I saw some younger actress (?) on Jimmy Kimmel I think it was and she was referencing something obviously 80s-related, and then said something about “millennials”. Oof. That’s Peak Gen X stuff.
Jimmy didn’t comment on it, but he had to be thinking, WTF.
Ha. I have a feeling that “boomers” went through the same arc. Probably more ink spilled about them than just about any other generation (Gen Y will probably come close - it’s just a numbers game, not any special property of any of these age demographics - Gen X is treated like the middle child just because we have lower numbers ), and how wayward they were as the 60’s generation/flower power generation, etc.
Over time though, “boomer” morphed into just another way of expressing ageism at older people instead of “the kids”.
Have you read all the shit boomers wrote about millennials? Nothing has ever not been our fault. I remember in high school getting blamed for ending newspapers because we were more interested in the internet.
I remember boomers saying and writing all kinds of stupid shit about Gen X.
Later the MSM chased the numbers and set up the cage match to be between boomers and Gen Y instead. Most of it seemed to be a lot of rehashed stuff we already heard as kids from people our parents age (if they were reactionary dumbasses; not all boomers of course - quite a few boomers were very awesome including my own parents). Including the internet thing, since many of Gen X cut their teeth on things like BBS and USENET and were founding all the dot com shit…
Craig and his list probably played a huge role in the demise of newspapers…ironically, he’s a boomer.
Same with people like Stuart Brand - boomer, and I looked up to him. It’s hilarious to hear boomers blaming Gen X or anyone younger for “internet bad”, LOL.
Bro the oldest millennials are like 42

Yeah, I’ve noticed “millennials” is just the new “old people” to young Gen Z and Alpha.

I know right… I’m smack in the middle of Gen Z and I’m probably not retiring for another 10 years.
