Fediverse users are femurs?
We’re lemmings.
We solved this like a year ago! Though I had completely forgotten what it actually was.
Lemmyngs
Lemmings is just the best name for us. It’s so anti-corporate, you can rest assured not a single PR team would ever greenlight it in the history of PR teams. We don’t need a PR team to approve our nickname, we don’t want a PR team to approve our nickname, we don’t want to have anything to do with whatever a PR team wants.
In case anyone was unsure, lemmings don’t even jump off cliffs, that was literally just Disney staff throwing lemmings off cliffs like a bunch of psychopaths.
I’m the little dude who lays 3 stairs and then goes boldly forward.
I‘m the one with that rope. A Lemmnja.
I’m the diggy diggy hole lemming
I am F12!
Lemme lend my fellow lemmings some lemons.
We are legion
NO! I said months ago I hate this. I still hate this.
You’re better fall in line and jump off this cliff with the rest of us.
Your comment was so applicable to any of my comments that I assumed you were replying to the one where I said I wasn’t going to start wearing pants at work.
Less talking. More dropping trou.
So what’s your preferred alternative?
I think lemurs like the op said is better. However, I also think the ship has probably already sailed and lemmings is what it is.
Lemminators
I despise that term and refuse to use it
We are mostly called “lemmings” here.

I think I prefer Lemurians https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemuria
Lemmings strong together
Guys, come quick!!! I found the cliff!!!
I’m not falling for that one again, Mr. Disney Documentarian.
sets fire to your neighborhood
Oh no!
I am more attached to the idea of the fediverse as a whole than to Lemmy.
I think we should all be called “feds.”
Not Feds 🤮
Fediversians
I’m not so sure of your solution, but as an Mbinner…
Activity pub
… Activists?Fediverse
… Versus?Fedis
Lemming is the correct answer, but I’ll also accept Lemmin’ mostly because I’d love for there to be some kind of meet-up, like a Lemmin’ Party or something.
Nerds
accurate. BTW, i got a copy of red hat linux from the library back in '98 or so and tried to install it on my 386 but 8MB of RAM was too little by half. Windows 95 ran on it tho!
so obviously i use arch nowadays, but i’ve been feeling a little BSD-curious. it seems like linux might get overrun with normies soon and i need a backup plan
Lidiots
The fun thing about demonyms this is that there’s no grammatical rule for them.
It’s just kind of socially agreed upon.
Nobody from Boston would say they’re bostonite. They would say a Bostonian.
However, there are many more miltons. In the world around there are miltonians and miltonites.
People from Liverpool are liverpudlians.
People from Venice are venetian.
People from St Kitts are called kitty cats.
Meow
Another good one is Glasgow -> Glaswegians. Here’s a pretty interesting article about a few odd demonyms:
https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/demonyms-linguistics-nicknames
The demonym “Glaswegian” comes, linguists think, as an analogy of the Irish city of Galway. “Glasgow” and “Galway” are two fairly similar looking words. And Galway has long had its own analogy with another similar-looking word: Norway. Galway’s demonym is “Galwegian,” as an analogy of “Norwegian.” So “Glaswegian” is a sort of a photocopy-of-a-photocopy of Norwegian. Not something anyone could ever guess!
And people from Wisconsin are called Cheese Heads.
I don’t want to be grouped together with any of you.
Which is why you’ve chosen to be a kbinite.
to be fair
That’s where I started too, much much better web interface than base lemmy. But then .social got flaky and I tried out Voyager and here we are.
Kbinite is close enough to kryptonite so they should be called kryptonians
I was thinking “carbonite” myself.
Lemurians.
I found this humerus.
Redditors but with extra steps
Lamingtons. I will hear no debate on this.
I would also like to die on this hill.
Lemmings is dumb. Lamingtons is rad.
Do we need a name? Most social networks don’t have a special name for their users.
They do have a special name though - “the product”
