These are always reported early, while the asteroid’s orbit isn’t quite nailed down, so they can report it while it still has a chance of hitting Earth
As more observations are made it will be found to not even come within the orbit of the moon
However were it to hit we would know very precisely where with years of warning. It would be easy to not be under it
The glass half full take is only 7 more years
