A 21-year old anti-ICE protester has been left permanently blinded in California after a Department of Homeland Security agent shot him in the face with a nonlethal round at point-blank range on Friday.

Kaden Rummler can be seen on video rushing to help a fellow protester at Civic Center Plaza in Santa Ana before being shot by a federal agent. He crumples to the ground in a heap, covering his face before an officer drags him away by his hoodie. Rummler’s aunt said he was left with a fractured skull and shards of plastic, glass, and metal stuck all throughout his eyes and face, and would have died if not for the six hours of surgery he went through.

“That could have cost him his life,” Jeri Rees told the Los Angeles Times. “But now, for the next six weeks, he can’t sneeze or cough because it could do a lot of damage.… The other officers were mocking him, saying, ‘You’re going to lose your eye.’”

I can’t see the video because I don’t have an x account anymore and it’s been marked as sensitive. Is there a mirror? I can’t find it on her BlueSky account.

If shit gets real then half the the Democrats will denounce us as terrorists while the other half will trip over themselves to join Trump’s reprisal firing squads.

Yea and even if we get a deescalation of some kind the police state agency and infrastructure is in place and the democrats will not remove the noose from our necks they’ll leave it in place just like they did with Guantanamo and the patriot act

The people who were sacrificing children for guns became ice agents and the people who had their children sacrificed are getting shot by them.

He wasn’t shot. I saw the video, the kid ran towards an ICE agent with a megaphone (seemingly to help a friend who was also caught by ICE), the latter smacking him violently in the face then dragged ruthelessly on the asphalt.

It just looks like kids trying to make a change by protesting, but not fully grasping the consequences of their actions. ICE are a form of law enforcement and obstructing their role does not seem to be tolerated. Hurling at an officer (or any person) with a megaphone is extremely annoying. At the end of the day, half the country voted for the party that ran on the migration issue, and they are working seemingly hard to deliver on those promises, wether we agree with premise or not.

They have the right to protest, but this administration is not tolerating any descent to rioting, and seriously seems to be heading towards borderline totalitarian ruling now that trump is fancying his king title, and contemplating cancelling the mid-term.

ICE is breaking laws, not enforcing them. They exist now as a paramilitary secret police for Trump to use against his political enemies.

You can clearly see him being shot in the video and the article you didn’t read said he was shot.

It just looks like kids trying to make a change by protesting, but not fully grasping the consequences of their actions.

What are you doing to make a change? Are you fine with a pedophile being the president of the country and with public money being used to support the murder of kids in gaza?

This kid is fully aware of the consequences of his action, he fully understand that if nobody does something against these cowards and villains the consequences will be much worst for everyone.

You’re right, I thought the officer smacked him in the face, but it was the other ICE agent behind that seem to have shot him with a non-lethal ammo.

But to be clear my views don’t align with that of trump, also I am not american. No one can deny the corruption in this administration and the cope for hiding the Epstein case. Republicans don’t seem to care unless it’s happening in a pizzaria basement.

But I agree with the right on the issue of illegal migration. So I don’t think ICE is overstepping here. If people are staying illegally, either change the laws around that or vote for people who won’t enforce the laws on this (like the previous administrations). Having schrodinger laws is the worse of both cases.

As far as I see regarding gaza, he played a good role stopping what israel was doing. At least friends from the region were happy for the cease fire to be in place. You guys are too perfectionist hoping for a fair solution in the real world, which doesn’t happen often.

And for issues I care about, I vote for the candidate that align with my views and make sure to sign petitions, EU citizens can enact decent amount of change. Not sure how it is in the US, but you have to accept, half your country support the other side.

How many americans need to be killed or wounded before congress shuts down this terror organization?

Its absolutely insane that the US president is more compassionate toward iranian protestors than US ones. But I guess the US oil is already secured by US oil companies so who cares about americans when only corporations are people?

If Trump goes full blown dictator, never.

If he dies and a regular election takes place, I guess the end of his term.

But truly, I see the US as sitting on the brink of a rerun of the American Civil war. Instead of England, it’s your own people. Rise up or be crushed.

Do you see the US Democrats do something as bold as end DHS?

Also, if Trump dies, Vance takes control, which to some degree means Thiel takes control (hello Palantir!) which is arguably a lot worse.

The civil war was states vs states and the conflict point was slavery, with Kansas entering the union as a free state. MAGA is driven by a global media aparatus funded by extreme wealth. I think as soon as the power goes out the whole thing falls apart.

I wouldn’t expect a civil war to occur until a federal wealth tax hits or a straight up coup occurs. I think democrats could kick the whole thing down the road a decade by adding puerto rico and DC as US states which can be done with just 51 votes in the senate.

How many americans need to be killed or wounded before congress shuts down this terror organization?

I think that question basically doesn’t have an answer, since Trump’s supporters don’t live in the same reality. Within their bubble, that agent is a hero and Good was a terrorist or whatever. They don’t know that previous administrations have managed to enforce immigration law without essentially declaring martial law, and they don’t know that ICE agents are being hired with literally no getting. If they found out, they are well-trained to not care .

If you want to know when this will even begin to stop, well, the stock market is doing just fine. While that is the case, Trump can do whatever he wants.

      this terror organization?

I don’t think the police will disappear anytime soon from any police state.

Its absolutely insane that the US president is more compassionate toward iranian protestors than US ones.

It’s a leverage they are using to attack iran, they don’t give a shit about people.

In an email response to The Times, Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary with the Department of Homeland Security, said . . . “This was a highly coordinated campaign of violence where rioters wielded shields.”

Oh the fucking horror. How very dare those protesters cover their bodies against ICE violence.

The kid who got blinded was running to help someone else. Funny how words and acts of humanity and kindness seem to piss them off more than anything else. But that’s now a “riot” and that protester is now a “rioter.”

This newspeak is right up there with the couchfucker claiming Renee Good belonged to a “broad left-wing network” without so much as a clue of the word rest of us use to describe the same group: a neighborhood. Renee Good belonged to a neighborhood.

    Oh the fucking humanity.

It’s a classic cop tactic: raise the level of violence, then use the inevitable and justified matching rise in violence and defensive behaviour from protesters to justify more police violence.

French newspaper le Monde Diplomatique had an article some years back about this with a smoking gun type quote, from an unnamed former high ranking French police officer, along the lines of “it us, the police institutions, that set the level of violence, and we perfectly know it” (the conclusion from this officer was that therefore police should refrain from any unnecessary violence and only use absolutely necessary violence).

Truth. Say it as often as you can, because there are people commenting here constantly urging others to protest violently. It’s the worst thing we could do.

It’s the same here in the US, and this is why the regime has picked Minneapolis and Portland, Oregon to begin with: because those two cities had the most violence in 2020-2023 following the killing of George Floyd. But Portland has learned, and kept their protests non-violent, which is what the judge cited as her reason for declaring the presence of the National Guard there illegal in November. It’s the very first paragraph, and thereafter she calls the order illegal:
