During the height of blm in Seattle my complex had protests and various gasses going by it. Some of the tenants tried to get rent reduced or have leases cut early. Our landlords raised the rent the legal max, about 10%
Good luck with that. The people that don’t follow the law will most likely not respond to lawsuits.
Not responding to a lawsuit typically means you lose the lawsuit.
Yes, but losing a lawsuit doesn’t mean much with this administration now, does it?
It does actually.
As bad as Trump’s administration is,
- they own the federal level, not the states;
- there are still a lot of proceduralists around;
- doing whatever they want only works if there’s no resistance. Trump’s administration in particular crumbles under resistance, which is why it’s so infuriating that Democrats keep rolling over.
We did it Patrick! We made America safe!
The complex is home to 237 tenants, including children under 5, people with disabilities and veterans, according to the lawsuit.
People with veterans? Do they know they shouldn’t own veterans? They’re humans with rights like us, who should get more rights if they were deployed.
Save the Oxford Comma!
What solves this and a lot of other problems is actual accountability.
Body cameras on the entire time. Every time someone uses any kind of force, archive a 5 minute clip and make the officer/agent write a report justifying why they resorted to it.
If they had to justify it all, they wouldn’t just go wild with it.
Right now I honestly think they get the same guidance as Starship Troopers on munitions use
Department of Homeland Security has been inherently a fascist organization since its inception after 9/11. It, including ICE, cannot be redeemed and must be destroyed entirely.
By all means, push for “accountability” as a mitigation tactic, but understand that’s all it is.
