This is a very weird fetishization of autism that does not reflect at all the hardships you have to go through as someone with it.

This is like saying ADHD people could run the world perfectly on hyperfocus while ignoring all the tradebacks like getting tf out of bed, and then the house, on time.

Local departments to deal with hyperfocus swap. “I am currently working as a power washer as that was my previous hyperfocus, but I read a bunch of wiki articles and watched a few videos on commercial HVAC units and now that is my hyperfocus.” “Alright sir, we’ll have you shadow under this company as a trial period to see if this is short or long term. Turn in your power washing equipment and we’ll get a tool swap order in asap.”

Why is this bullshit fantasy so upvoted? It’s honestly fucking awful, and this kind of fetishization is actually a bad thing

Clocks… check. Trains… check. Social welfare supports… check. Clear communication… check.

    Switzerland with Pokemon.

    I mean, yeah, sounds cool.

Hate to say it but I know more than a few who are on the spectrum and are assholes. One of my parents, for instance. Perfectly happy to hate on public works or social programs, and that “direct communication” made sure you knew it. Just because someone’s ASD doesn’t automatically make them want to better society for everyone else.

This tracks well. An ex best friend of mine who is AuDHD became pretty much a neo-nazi close to the time we kicked him out of the group. The reason he was kicked out was since he was sexting kids (who were a few grades below us in high school) a few weeks after he became 18. He also had a girlfriend, but rather than stay with her, he decided to cheat on her with minors.

Yep. I have an acquaintance like that. His special interests are conspiracy theories and racism. It’s exhausting to be around that.

I mean, at least you wouldn’t know it. That seems like an upgrade.

But then again, maybe not. Elon Musk has told us all the truth and no one seems to pay any attention to it. At least no one that matters.

        ND are people, too.

Knowing it and choosing not to mask is definitely a thing. I’m sure plenty of us are “normal” and just have a hard time filtering information in and out when it comes to social settings - IOW we’re not assholes by nature. ND people can also be just like anyone else in that being an asshole is their normal state and also choosing not to filter it.

That’s an interesting thought I’m going to be stuck thinking about for the rest of the day. No I’m not autistic. 🤣

No delays, my trains always arrive a full 15 minutes early due to anxiety over being late and then sit around in awkward silence waiting for the passengers to show up.

I’m not late. I always arrive exactly when I mean to!

Which is always at least 10 minutes later than I said, and 20 minutes later than I expected to.

I think they mean the people in charge of maintaining schedules will be rigorously opposed to anything getting in the way of those schedules proceeding as planned.

Not that every ASD person is immune from ADHD.
