Probably a bad idea. I remember the Reddit meetup debacles. But on the other hand, an old forum I moderated did it with great success. On the other other hand, I realize it flies in the face of privacy, being insular, etc…
I would do almost anything to avoid meeting a Lemmy user in real life
hey, fuck you too, buddy
also, I completely agree. take my upvote
You just wanna take our heads to become an even more powerful Lemming. I’m onto your schemes!
Lemlander
I have met quite a few people in real live through Lemmy. It is a quite cool experience and some serious friendships have formed through that.
I can’t see it being a positive experience and not just because I’m a hermit.
I also enjoyed some forum meetups but that worked because the community was formed around a very specific shared interest and everyone knew each other. While this would work for communities of Lemmy, I would never want to meet a group of social network users because some like posting dick picks, some believe in God, some don’t believe in God, some like to smoke pot, some like pictures of cats, some like Communism, some hate Communism, some believe they are an animal, some like Star Trek.
Being in a room with a interest makeup like that would feel like drinking tea in the fourth ring of Hell to me.
But we all hate each other and the outside?
I hate you in particular
just kidding
What if the meet up was behind a Wendy’s dumpster?
Then it would just be me and your mom.
r/wallstreetbets is leaking
More like always sunny.
I feel like there’s only one or two users in my city but I would be down. Would be interesting to know who is on the other side sometimes.
If I wanted to meet real people in real life I’d be using Facebook
There aren’t real people on Facebook these days
But Facebook is filled with bots?
I’ll bring the sandwiches
I yearn for a Lemmy version of the DashCon incident
