The Russians did it
Did communist trip her?
I agree
more like
systematic failures of capitalism ruining your life
then have everyone shout at you ‘what about personal responsibility?’ often, even your family.
this is one of the most insidious things about american culture and ends up inflicting the most damage to your well-being.
In a way, it’s actually the runaway systemic success of capitalism ruining all our lives. Like a tumor, it’s so fucking effective at parisitizing it’s host (earth) to fuel meaningless growth for the sake of growth that it will be terminal if we don’t excise it.
Propaganda is one helluva drug
it boggles the mind how a “free and fair” press isn’t regarded as propaganda, but “fair and balanced” is.
American right-wing, TYVM. Just over half us aren’t that stupid, although I admit their number seems to be growing.
Just over half us aren’t that stupid
How many people voted for Gavin Newsom and Andrew Cuomo? How many Americans supported Israel for decades? How many believed the Clintons about “Superpredators”. How many bought into the notion that Medicare for All is economy-destroying, but Iraq/Afghanistan was a fight for freedom?
How many people still think The Russians and The Chinese are secretly behind every American candidate they don’t like?
America does not have a “left-wing”
You are all just right of center peeps.
Of course. You know EVERY single person’s perspectives well enough to make such sweeping generalizations.
🙄
I’m well aware, and agree the mainstream Dems of today are effectively right-wing without quite so much totalitarianism, but there’s a growing number of progressives who have been making quite a few waves this year. I imagine you’d call them centrists at best, but we gotta start the rebound somewhere.
Over half of Americans aren’t anti-capitalist, please be real
I didn’t say that. The meme is about blaming communists for capitalist problems. That’s almost entirely a right-wing thing.
This part is technically correct, since both mainstream US parties and their voters are right wing
Love when you guys make sweeping generalizations & assumptions. Yeah, a good number of Democratic voters fit your profile, but there’s another significant number (including yours truly) who’ve only voted for them for lack of choice, and in an attempt to keep the even worse candidate from winning. Just because we have no choice doesn’t mean we actually want who we wind up having to vote for.
I don’t know… plenty of “left-wing” in Amerika are still blaming Russia for everything and also being paranoid about Communism.
Its because the americans misguidedly lump the neolibs in with the left, and the neolibs make up a big chunk of the nominally left party
The USSR collapsed three and a half decades ago and you MLers are still trying to conflate fascist Russia with communism.
Meanwhile, back in reality, blaming Russia has fuck-all to do with communism, let alone being paranoid about it.
Not a single communist says Russia is still socialist. Marxist-Leninists tend to critically support Russia’s opposition to US imperial hegemony the same way we critically support Iran. It doesn’t mean we support bourgeois nationalist states for their economy or social views, but instead for their progressive geopolitical role.
The idea that MLs think Russia is still socialist is a lie deliberately used to obfuscate the actual ML stance on Russia, because engaging with the actual ML stance on Russia leads people to Marxism-Leninism.
Who the hell is saying Russia is communist? Certainly not Marxist-Leninists
Actually, over 40% of Americans, both Bidenites and Trumpites. At least that was the case in 2022.

Jesus they’re even dumber than I thought
I wish they had a follow-up question of define Communism. I bet most of the 40% would answer incorrectly.
Oh jesus…
Btw, it’s interessing the difference (even if small) between those having a degree and those who don’t and the ageYeah, and even in the least wrong segment of the population of the whole poll (the young people), 28-31% think Russia is a communist state!

I wonder what the outcome would be if they did this test in various european countries
We’re perfectly aware that Russia is capitalist, it gets no more credits than Germany for its communist past. The reason it receives critical support is because it’s opposing the US, and the US hegemon falling is pretty much the gateway to socialism worldwide.
We’re so clear about it that I don’t even understand how you could possibly think we support Russia because we think it’s still socialist?
The reason [Russia] receives critical support is because it’s opposing the US
From your link:
Critical support is supporting something while also being critical of its flaws. It is often used in the context of supporting bourgeois states that fight against imperialism or are under imperialist aggression.
The thing is, Russia is exactly the polar opposite of “supporting bourgois states that fight against imperialism” or being “under imperialist aggression.” Those statements describe states like Ukraine, while Russia is itself also an imperialist aggressor.
You can argue that the US is also bad in that regard, but you sure as Hell can’t argue that Russia is any better. Supporting Russia “critically” (which I’m also not buying, BTW: quite a lot of its support around her is distinctly uncritical) is doing nothing but advocating for trading one oppressing overlord for another.
We’re so clear about it that I don’t even understand how you could possibly think we support Russia because we think it’s still socialist?
Thinking that maybe you were still somehow confused about Russia being communist was being charitable – giving you the benefit of the doubt. If you’re saying that y’all knowingly support fascists, that just makes you irredeemably terrible people.
Russia has a paltry sum of financial capital. It cannot simply be traded out for the US Empire, which is why in a conflict between the two support for Russia undermines the overall system of imperialism. Meanwhile, Ukraine is leveraged by NATO the same way Israel is, as an attack dog and testing ground for new tools of fascism to be brought back to the imperial core, like Palantir’s toys.
The thing is, Russia is exactly the polar opposite of “supporting bourgois states that fight against imperialism” or being “under imperialist aggression.” Those statements describe states like Ukraine
You think that a state that has invaded Iraq, Syria, Iran, and other places, and has been trying to formally join the gang of other invaders of Iraq and Afghanistan as ‘fighting against imperialism’. You are silly.
Also, what do you think a state should do when the most prolific invader in the world - NATO - starts amassing troops near that state’s borders, especially after conducting a coup d’etat against a neighbouring state?
states like Ukraine
y’all knowingly support fascists

Whataboutism.
The undeniable fact is that Russia invaded Ukraine, not the other way around. That makes Russia the aggressor and Ukraine the victim in that conflict.
Nobody said Russia didn’t invade Ukraine. Communists aren’t pacifists, we do not have such an unnuanced ideology as “anti-warism.” We oppose imperialism, which is a global system headed by the US Empire, a material process with definite characteristics. We do not simply take a moralist stance that whoever gets invaded is just, otherwise we would have supported the Statesian confederacy against the invading Union.
Whataboutism.
Seriously claiming that other people engage in “whataboutism” is just an admittance of one’s own hypocrisy.
The undeniable fact is that Russia invaded Ukraine
After NATO self-admittedly kept pushing for war with Russia with Ukraine as its proxy.
That makes Russia the aggressor and Ukraine the victim in that conflict.
Attempting to join the most prolific invader in the world is an act of aggression, and so is pushing for war with Russia. I wouldn’t say that responding to those makes a state the aggressor, but the people of Ukraine (excluding its leadership) are some of the victims.
History started in 2022. I am very smart!
“Four months into this thing, I like the structural path we’re on here. As long as we help Ukraine with the weapons they need and the economic support, they will fight to the last person,” said Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-S.C.) early into the war, accidentally voicing what the war’s critics have often said about the war — that the U.S. will fight it “to the last Ukrainian.” Later, Graham called it the “best money we’ve ever spent.”
“Erm sir it is actually a heckin whataboutism to point out that I have aligned myself with Nazis”
Its crazy how you guys will hear some moron say “I heard communists believe this” and just immediately go “yup sounds true, stupid communists” with no investigation or follow up.
I mean not true the democrats also like to accuse Trump as being the “true communist” I would agree they aren’t “left-wing” but then they and the republicans are much more than half.
