I’m glad that I’ve been to their concert after the reunion and before Keith Kirked.

One of the reasons The Prodigy holds up so we’ll is that the synth guy refused to copy/paste basic background loops.

If a beat pattern is repeated 40 times, he manually entered it 40 times into the software.

This to avoid lazily repeating basic loops for longer than they were pleasing to listen to, and force himself to think about every detail about the music he wrote.

Hey thank you for sharing that story. I’m about to sit down for an extended arrangement session in a couple weeks and, uh, I have arranged two songs before. It’s going to be rough. But that is great songwriting advice.

That’s not surprising at all. Any media older than 20 years is old.

In fact, watching Star Trek TNG is the equivalent of watching black and white movies.

Fuck, I didn’t read that slow enough at first and was like, “well I mean, Smooth Criminal is pretty old so- wait the Alien Ant Farm version??? Fuuuuu-” I think that made it worse.

Last week a teenage store clerk asked if I needed my purchases carried to my car.

I didn’t, because the question caused me to crumble to dusk.

“need? Nah. You want a break from bagging and a quick chat I’m up for it if you are. Grab an empty bag and if anyone asks you’re carrying it for me” then give them double finger guns

I don’t even know if we have an “Oldies” station left, but I heard a Linkin Park song from 2003 on the biggest Classic Rock station in the area last week, and I’m still trying to process that.

Also, obligatory “there was only 13 years between the original and the Alien Ant Farm cover, but 25 years since the cover”

Meanwhile here I am in my 40s sometimes getting carded when buying booze and I look em straight in the eyes and point to my grey beard, then ask if they wanna see my thinning hair 👴

I get carded whenever there’s a young kid at the till. I just give it to them because I know their boss has given them shit about it

Got carded at a bar for the first time in years. Just hoping they didn’t see me blush through the grey in my beard.

Wait you don’t get a bit happy they felt to card you? I need to go to newer stores for that excitement.

Actually recall being over a decade younger and being carded and amused, doesn’t happen overly often this side of 40 let alone back when I was younger. Apparently I looked a tad younger from comments (at parties unless they were just hitting on me, I dunno now) but rarely card for decades now. Always have it ready just to make things smoother mind you, don’t want to hold up the line and all

I was so happy when I stopped getting carded in my late twenties. I didn’t need to carry my wallet around with me anymore just to show ID when I pick up booze. made it that much easier to go run errands, as I only needed my phone in my pocket

Now I just need my government ID for out of state travel and to make cannabis purchases. Everything else I need or want to do is doable without an ID.

A few years ago my Bluetooth thingy died and I had to listen to the radio so I turned on the oldies station trying to catch some beach boys or something and they were playing Guns N Roses. Marjor psychic damage. Then they got the crit multiplier cause when I switched to classic rock they were playing the Sex Pistols

It’s been years ago now, but I knew I was old when we were further away from Lagwagon’s cover of Brown Eyed Girl than they were from the original.

Fun fact, Dryden from AAF is a documented racist and bigot. He was called out in the NME (or maybe MM, I forget) at the height of their fame by a journalist who followed them on tour and saw him frequently using racial slurs to refer to members of the road crew. Then when social media started being a thing, he was on there with (subsequently deleted) N-words and homophobia.

You know you’re old when you start singing along to the music while grocery shopping. I was ashamed when I caught myself.

If i remember correctly they ended up hating it because people didn’t ask for their songs when they were playing live just the Smooth Criminal.
