“star trek would be the ideal fictional universe to get trapped in because you’d explain your situation and they’d be like yeah makes sense. no further questions. fortunately we can use the mysterious warp signature emitting from this system’s icy moon to counterface with the solar radiation and slingshot you back home”

“I’m from a universe where your world is all a work of fiction.” Benjamin Sisko, nodding. “That happened to me once.”

“I Got Isekaid Into The Star Trek Universe And They Quickly Understood What Was Happening”
Genuinely? I think I’d have a hard time with the idea of it.
Don’t get me wrong, 2026 sucks actual, authentic unwashed ass. I hate it here. But unfortunately, all of my favorite human beings are here, and I don’t want to leave them behind.
And since Federation laws won’t let me take them with me here, and they also have people they love too much to leave behind, the right choice for me would be to go back. What if I end up being one of the tiny events that makes the change that starts this utopia? Would I risk this awesome future not happening at all, just to be selfish?
I would love to stay. But I couldn’t.
Edit: Idk if a yankee is allowed to have a favorite Canadian singer. But Heather Dale covered a pretty awesome song about something kind of like this idea.
Imagine living in a place where the people in power listen to you and act rationally 😭
as long as they are not generals
Admirals
Whoops, yes
Plot twist: we are in the Star Trek universe, but it’s 2026.
Oof.
I think the timeline must have changed because we missed the Irish Reunification of 2024
We did bump one universe down after the world ended in 2012, they just turned the universe off and on again when the Mayan Calendar stopped. Irish Reunification has been pushed 10 years later.
Maybe we’re in the everyone has a goatee mirrorverse. Would explain some things.
lorca is from the mirror universe and canonicallly admires musk. it tracks
I love that the baseball league was like, “you know what we need in this trying time of multiple wars, baseball cards!”
The real struggle isn’t that you got trapped in the Star Trek universe, it’s that you landed in a colony based on the idea that everyone in it has been trapped in the Star Trek universe. You have to convince the crew that your case is real.
they’d just need to do some temporal signature scanning
like hell I’d tell anyone where the fuck I’m from.
I’m going to pretend to have amnesia and live my life as the jizzmop aboard the enterprise.
Seriously. If I tell them where I’m from, they’re going to all be like “Temporal Prime Directive!!!” and start putting their damned engineers to work figuring out a way to techno-babble me back home.
Nope, sorry, no idea who I am or how I got here. Perhaps some cosmic Q-like entity was responsible? Oh well, nothing to do but make the most of it. What name do you think fits me?
No reason to suspect they’ll let me stay on the ship. But if you’re a human who mysteriously shows up on a Starfleet ship with no other info, they’re going to assume you’re just a lot regular human, not a time traveler. Probably set you up with a new identity and set you loose.
Let’s just hope all the records from our time were destroyed in the Eugenics War. Hopefully they can’t figure out when I’m from and try to send me back!
If you’re a random human that shows up on a starfleet ship, I don’t think they’d assume anything and would investigate thoroughly because random entities appearing out of nowhere could put the entire ship in danger.
I’m sure if you ask for asylum, they have to give it to you.
Tell that to Tuvix.
I feel for them, I really do, but
One person’s life, or a whole universe of people? Maybe this person helps solve the crisis their time faces? We can never know. But they have to go back. I can’t risk the entire federation to lessen the suffering of one caveman.
Energize.
Whose to say I wasn’t meant to be here? Maybe the timeline we’re in now is the one where I didn’t go back!

An honorable waste extraction technician.
For þe chance to live þe rest of my life in þat universe, I’d happily do even þat job.
Problem is, þe people who have to do þat job still had to graduate Star Fleet, and by all accounts þat’s not a walk in þe park. And þings are less rosy outside of Star Fleet, alþough þe worst places seem to be colonies; maybe on established Federation planets life is peachy.
Due to using thorn in written English, you’d be yeeted to England circa 800 - 1600 CE.
I assume you’d stay where you are now, safe* on Earth.
* Until the next destructive alien probe, Borg invasion, or Dominion scare, that is…
Just my luck to arrive after þe time travelin’ Borg invasion!
Not necessarily. If you’ve got a usable skillset, you could become a non-commissioned officer like O’Brien.
But only officers get to empty þe holodeck waste units! I had my eye on þat cushy job.
Dilithium processing, best I can do.

For that you need to be the captains daughter. With my luck I would become a redshirt with an incureable brain worm infection.
This is why we watch Star Trek. Shit happens, such is life, but the backdrop is a utopian society or at least a society that makes the effort.
Dune: dystopia.
Star Wars: dystopia.
Star Trek: Utopia, but with Ferengi.
Dune is oil in the Middle East.
And yet somehow the Ferengi still have better regulation than IRL
capitalismcorporate oligarchy.Even then, the Ferengi manage to make significant reforms thanks to Grand Nagus Rom and First Clerk Leeta (the real power behind the thrown like Moogie before her).

the real power behind the thrown
Calm down with the baseball obsession, Rom!
In Star Trek they’d force you to go back. In Stargate however, you could join their forces, and not as red shirt but as plot-armored protagonist.
Yeah, how pissed would everyone be. So many people have spent almost a decade on SG-not-1, putting up with endless bullshit solving crazy problems, being possessed a dozen times, escaping by the skin of their teeth, just waiting for that promotion to SG-1 only for some smiling alien with a vaguely Aussie accent to have a spot created for her
In Stargate you’d get a lot of guns pointed at you and then you’d end up in an interrogation room, at least at first.
It’s not until you convince Daniel, who convinces Sam, who convinced Jack, and get the Teal’c nod, that you become legit.
Indeed
All assuming I am in any way useful for literally anything for the team…
If you clench your jaw in Morse code, you might get the Teal’c nod first.
If you declare science, you may get Sam first.
But to unlock The O’Neill first, you have to be a complete wildcard or a small being (kid, pet, etc).
Or a babe that reminds him of Mary Steenburgen
What a callback. I had to look it up: https://stargate.fandom.com/wiki/Mary_Steenburgen
“You have a thing for the Simpsons, fishing, Mary Steenburgen, the color peridot and you’re a terrible ping pong player.”
-Homer Simpson

No, please, do not send me back to the dark centuries! Please, I want to stay in the post scarcity, medically advanced, peaceful society!
This is something I really appreciate about Star Trek: a combination of trust, competence, and acknowledgement that even the seemingly impossible happens on a regular basis means we, the viewers, are saved from having to trudge through the “I tried reporting this strange thing but everyone blew me off until it was too late” trope. Instead of spending half the episode on trying to convince upper brass to take concerns seriously, everyone jumps straight into action, just in case the worst is actually happening.
Except that one with Beverly where everyone told her she was nuts the whole time 😛
Pocket-universe Enterprise crew are jerks.

Exactly. They try to get me back home, and I’d be like, “don’t you fucking dare! I’m staying here!“
Gillian Taylor had the right idea.
Star Trek has not always been very kind in its portrayal of women. But that lady… She was fucking brilliant. I would also jump a disgraced Starfleet admiral in Golden Gate Park if it would guarantee me a ride to the 23rd century. For no other reason, than that it’s probably the only way I’ll ever be able to afford to see a competent (or any) doctor for the rest of my life.
At least in the future, there are better beer choices than Michelob 🤮

You’d end up in front of a doctor and they’d be like “what hell? How did you contract all these illnesses??? We eliminated these decades ago!“
I’ll fucking take it. It’s certainly better than never seeing a doctor because I can’t afford it.
Good news, you can stay. A position just opened up at Starbase 80.

Maybe the Eugenics Wars and World War III won’t be so bad…
I’ll be 84 on the date of first contact with the Vulcans. Not great…
Maybe I’ll finally get some fucking health insurance

Counterpoint: that one Voyager episode where Harry Kim has the entire timeline rewritten such that he never ended up on Voyager, is working on some pretty cool projects at Starfleet headquarters, has a girlfriend, and yet still does everything he can- including recruiting a now-out-of-jail Tom Paris as a pilot - to get back.
No-one believes him. No-one. Everyone thinks he’s lost his marbles, including Tom in the beginning. The only reason why Tom comes around is because Harry is treating him like a genuine friend.
To be fair he was not a stranger popping in from out of nowhere, people knew and remembered him on account of the timeline re-write, which would make his sudden (to them) insistence that things weren’t right seem very odd.
“But… You can’t send me home.”
They’d have to force me. Probably kick me out for ruining the time continuum or some crap.
Me talking to Quark after too many drinks
no no, see you don’t understand, they got these pictures of monkeys, and they like, tell people they own this one, and there’s no others ever because of some magic keychain, and like, sell them for big money even though they’re worthless and don’t physically exist, and you can just launder money through them and no one bats an eye.
And they also have this digital currency that people spend tons of money because maybe it could be worth something, but see that’s the trick it never is cause the smart ones control the value with pump and dump schemes.
Odo breaking in “yeah we need to get you the hell away from this guy before you give him any more ideas like that”
I like to think the only reason the Ferengi haven’t spontaneously reinvented cryptocurrency in the future is because the thought of a value-volatile currency is the sort of stuff that Ferengi nightmares are made of. When you wake up tomorrow your bank account could contain any number under the sun, good or bad. If you keep latinum, when you wake up tomorrow, your bar of latinum is still going to be worth one bar of latinum.
Something really bad is waiting for me there
Star Trek and Doctor Who, the Doctor would think it was fascinating but he’d believe you and take you back if you wanted
Or you become a companion!
And die some horrible convoluted way where you get spliced into different timelines at the same time until your atoms get compressed and you rip a tear in the fabric of history.
To be completely honest: I wouldn’t want to live there, at least not in the TNG era…
TOS and old movie Trek had this spirit of pushing outward, “To boldly go where no man has gone before…”, the federation in TNG and onwards always felt overly preachy and arrogant to me.
I don’t want to boldly go anywhere, I just want to live somewhere I never need to worry about starving to death or getting bombed because some uber rich asshat wants to play toy soldiers with real people.
So, what was it like writing for Nu-Trek?
