Work computers and devices are for work.

Personal devices are for personal stuff.

Never ceases to amaze me when people get a work-issued device and they’re like “free (laptop, ipad) dude! and load it full of personal stuff. No effing way.

Any decently equipped IT department can see all that crap, and you’d better hope it’s decently managed because if it isn’t it could leak, whether by remote managment or if you break the device and have to surrender it for repair/repalcement.

I love how Thunderbird gives you a reminder to attach a file if you use the word “attachment” or something similar in the email

I write the words, “attached to this email” to make sure I don’t accidentally attach anything. Many email clients confirm you have no attachments if you write that. Useful little trick!

Maybe it’s a localization issue, but I’ve not seen this yet using Thunderbird. I should look into this, there is a word I always use that’s clearly expecting an attachment.

Thunderbird does have this, but yes, I think the default list of watched words is just in English (or maybe dependant on install language?). Anyway, you can add custom words in the settings; always end up doing that myself.

"Dear gandalf, we’d like to process your request from your previous email, but unfortunately the attachment seems to be a picture of a wild bear eating a goat’s ass instead of formula 701 with full data and signature.

This incident will now be reported to the authorities sothat it is ensured that you will never have a normal job again, will be profusely looked down upon by everyone you know, and will never have a social relationship again.

    good day, the office"
